FAQs

General Information

Do you require a long-term contract?

No. While we highly recommend our seasonal prevention plans for long-term peace of mind, we don’t believe in forcing anyone into rigid contracts. We provide honest recommendations based on your situation, and you choose the service that fits your actual needs.

It depends on your property. While many insects naturally die off or hibernate, rodents like mice often seek shelter indoors during freezing Midwest winters. We will thoroughly inspect your home and only recommend winter services if there is a genuine need—never just to meet a sales quota.

Yes! Every technician at Paffy’s Pest Control is fully licensed, insured, and highly trained to safely deliver effective treatments for your home or business.

We know that dealing with pests can be stressful, so we always strive to schedule an expert inspection and treatment as promptly as possible to restore your peace of mind.

FAQs

Residential Services

Do I need to leave my house during a treatment?

For most of our standard exterior and interior treatments, you can remain comfortably at home! If a specific interior treatment requires you or your pets to step out for a short period, our technicians will clearly communicate that well in advance.

It is completely normal to see an increase in pest activity for a few days following a treatment. This is known as a “flush-out” effect, meaning the products are actively working to drive insects out of their hiding spots. If you have any concerns after we complete a treatment, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team and discuss the situation.

Most residential inspections take between 30 to 60 minutes. We believe in taking our time to thoroughly evaluate your property, uncover the root cause of any issues, and explain our findings to you without rushing.

Generally, just ensuring that pet food is put away and baseboards are relatively clear of clutter is incredibly helpful! If any specific prep work is needed for your unique situation, our team will provide you with a clear, easy-to-follow checklist beforehand.

Commercial Services

Absolutely. We know how important it is to keep your operations running smoothly, so we offer flexible, discreet scheduling options tailored to your facility’s specific hours.

Yes. We provide detailed service reports, product logs, and comprehensive documentation to ensure your business remains fully compliant with local health and safety regulations.

100%. A restaurant has very different pest control needs than a multi-housing facility or a warehouse. We design our commercial plans around your unique operational demands and industry requirements.

We partner closely with property managers to provide organized and respectful inspections, ensuring minimal disruption to your tenants while effectively mitigating property-wide risks.

FAQs

Specific Pests and Prevention

How can I tell if I have mice or rats?

The most common signs are small, dark droppings in cupboards or along baseboards, scratching noises in your walls or ceilings at night, and gnaw marks on food packaging or structural materials.

Sanitation and sealing are key. Keep counters wiped down, store food in airtight containers, fix any minor plumbing leaks (ants love moisture!), and let our team help seal up the microscopic exterior cracks they use to get inside.

Boxelder bugs are “overwintering” pests. As the Midwest weather turns cold, they congregate on the warm, sunny sides of houses and look for tiny crevices in your siding to hide out and survive the winter. Proactive exterior treatments in the late summer or early fall are the best way to stop them.

It depends on the species. While paper wasps can be defensive if their nest is threatened, yellowjackets and hornets are notably more aggressive. Because identifying them can be tricky—and treating them can be dangerous—we highly recommend letting our experienced technicians safely handle any stinging insect nests.
